Shireen L. Rizvi's areas of interest include the assessment and treatment of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and suicidal behaviors. She has particular expertise in the teaching and practice of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her current research focuses on: the use of mobile technology to promote skills use among individuals with BPD and treatment development work to determine the effective agents of change. Dr. Rizvi has written and presented numerous theoretical and research papers on BPD, DBT, shame, and trauma. Dr. Rizvi's classes include "Learning Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Foundations", "Fundamentals of Dialectical Behavior Therapy", and "DBT in Practice". She is board certified in cognitive behavioral therapy and is an active member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
