Graduation Requirements

Graduation requirements consist of general education requirements plus school graduation requirements. School graduation requirements consist of basic requirements and major requirements that are specific to the school or college.

Students admitted to Rutgers University-Camden who have an associate of arts (A.A.) or associate of science (A.S.) degree from a New Jersey community college dated January 2005 or thereafter will be considered to have satisfied the requirements for general education courses. These students must still satisfy any additional graduation requirements of the school to which they are admitted. The Office of New Student Programs determines whether any of these graduation requirements have been met based on documentation of the specific courses taken when the student transfers with an A.A. or A.S. degree.

College of Arts and Sciences Basic Graduation Requirements

Candidates for the bachelor's degree from the College of Arts and Sciences must complete at least 120 credits of college work with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or better, fulfill the requirements of an authorized major with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or better depending on the major, and complete the following basic graduation requirements. No exemptions are made.

College of Arts and Sciences Basic Graduation Requirements

1. 3 credits in a spoken foreign language at the 102 (Elementary II) level or higher

2. 3 credits of a writing-intensive course, either a writing course offered by the English department (50:989:300, 301, 302, 303) or a course labeled "writing intensive" (indicated by a "WRI" in the catalog) offered in any discipline

4. 3 credits in a natural science: astronomy (100), biological sciences (120), chemistry (115, 160), geology (460), physics (750), or general science (890)
