Honors College students are also required to complete Honors Experience
Projects before graduation, either two "enhancements" or one
"commitment." Enhancements are short-term experiences, usually
lasting no more than a semester. Examples include:
1. Study Abroad or International Studies
trip
2. Independent Study or research, approved by a professor for 3 credits
3. Arts and sciences or business internship
Commitments extend over multiple semesters or
even years. Examples include:
1. Honors in the student's major (senior thesis)
2. Completion of a minor program
3. Completion of a second major

Service
and Honors-Approved Activities
Throughout
the semester the Honors College (HC) will provide advance notice of approved
service opportunities and activities for its students. The Events Calendar is
posted on the HC website and updated regularly.
This
list will contain opportunities aggregated from the campus and surrounding
community.
The
criteria for an honors-approved activity are as follows: "Activities that
enrich the Honors College experience academically, artistically, culturally, or
socially."
The
criteria for a service/civic engagement activity are as follows:
"Activities that students give of themselves and their time to volunteer
and serve both on-campus and off-campus organizations and communities."
The
HC will work closely with its own Think Tank and Honors Student Organization to
create and compile activities and opportunities. The HC will also confer with
the Office of Campus Involvement and the Civic Engagement office as well as
other units inside and outside the campus.
Each semester students submit their Engagement record for
approval through a dedicated form on Engage, formerly known as RULinked.
Liberal Arts Colleges
