Introduction to Biochemistry (3)
Study of the structure and function of proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids. Survey of metabolic pathways and other pertinent biochemical concepts for nonchemistry majors; particularly those interested in pharmaceutical or medical careers.
Prerequisites: 50:160:335, 339.

Study of complex biochemical processes, including metabolic pathways, transcription, and translation, with an emphasis on catalytic mechanisms.
Prerequisite: 50:115:403.

General Biochemistry Laboratory I,II (1,1)
Basic biochemical techniques such as electrophoresis, western blotting, liquid chromatography, and protein/enzyme assays. Purification and characterization of proteins using techniques learned in 407. Laboratory fees will be applied.
