Mission Statement

The mission of the School of Business is to generate and disseminate knowledge to advance the understanding, practice, and management of commerce while seeking to be a recognized leader in developing high-quality business education.  Activities essential to the performance of this mission are guided by the following shared values:

The School of Business values the strength of scholarship among the faculty, including:

  • Publication in national and international scholarly journals
  • Original thinking and knowledge about business fields and disciplines that can be used to enrich the quality of information disseminated to students
  • Development of theory combined with practical application to improve critical thinking and problem solving

The School of Business values effective teaching through:

  • The use of diverse instructional methods and employment of advanced technology
  • The preparation of students for careers in general management as well as the functional areas of business

The School of Business values the strength of service, including:

  • Service in the external community, the professions, the university, and the School of Business
