Courses Taken “Not-for-Credit”

Students who wish to enroll in a graduate course or a 100-level through 400-level undergraduate course and complete all of the assigned work without receiving credit may do so with the advance approval of their adviser. Such students must establish their not-for-credit status by registering for the course with an N credit prefix online via webreg (http://webreg.rutgers.edu). Tuition will be charged based on the per-credit rate of the student's graduate program. Students must fulfill the usual requirements during the semester, including the execution of any written assignments, as all other students. At the end of the semester, however, they may not take the final examination, and a grade of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) is assigned. The course and the letter grade are included on the student's record, but no credit toward a degree is given.
