The master of physical therapy degree program is offered jointly with the doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Health Related Professions. Students complete the degree requirements for the M.P.T. and D.P.T. concurrently.
Full-time students are accepted for entrance into the program each summer. Students normally complete the degree requirements in nine consecutive semesters. In general, 26 full-time students are enrolled each year. Students are expected to complete the program in a maximum of three calendar years from the time of initial matriculation.
No transfer or nonmatriculated students are accepted into the program.
The mission of the program is to educate students to become physical therapy generalists prepared to advance toward autonomous practice and committed to humanistic principles through education, scholarship, community service, and clinical practice. The curriculum is designed to provide a student's first degree in physical therapy.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association.
