Volunteer Opportunities in Community Engaged Service (V.O.I.C.E.S.)

Volunteer Opportunities in Community Engaged Service (V.O.I.C.E.S.) strives to allow students to gain practical public health experience, interact with other students of similar interests, and incorporate social responsibility into their academic experience. This student group encourages students to reach out to their community by organizing and participating in volunteer community service projects with a public health focus.

Examples of community service projects include:

  • Development and implementation of community health workshops for children, teens, young adults, and adults (on asthma, HIV prevention, nutrition, and diabetes).
  • Educational initiatives for students and the community on topics such as violence and global peace, women's reproductive health, obesity, and civil rights.
  • Fundraising to support local and global causes such as local food pantries, agencies serving youth, disaster relief, and the Dominican Republic Health Outreach Project at School of Public Health.

Contact the Director of Student Support Services, Michael Vega, at mikevega@sph.rutgers.edu to find out how to get involved!
