Admission

All applications are completed online at https://gradstudy.rutgers.edu. The following materials are required for the application:

Completed Application

Materials include the following:
  • $70 application fee payable to Rutgers University
  • Official undergraduate transcripts for colleges and from each institution attended (a bachelor's degree from an accredited recognized institution of higher education is required)
  • Three letters of recommendation (academic, professional, only one letter can be a personal reference)
  • Personal statement - two to three pages explaining why you are pursuing an M.P.A. degree
  • Current résumé
  • Standardized test results (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, or equivalent) if the undergraduate GPA is less below than 3.0
  • TOEFL score if undergraduate degree is from a non-English speaking institution

Individuals seeking admission should submit the above materials for evaluation. The M.P.A. degree has rolling admissions except for international students, for whom more time is needed to process paperwork. Candidates for admission should complete the application as soon as possible and may begin coursework in the next available semester following acceptance.

Nondegree status permits applicants to complete up to four courses (12 credits) as a nondegree student before requesting matriculation. Nondegree academic performance is included in credentials review for a matriculation decision when nonmatriculating candidates apply for regular admission into the M.P.A. program.
