Students with a master's degree in public administration, business administration, or curriculum and learning from a regionally accredited college or university may prepare for the New Jersey Principal Certificate of Eligibility by completing the Certificate in Urban Education Administration and Leadership. This program, approved by the New Jersey Department of Education, prepares educational leaders to improve the operation of New Jersey public schools though courses in administration and management, public school policies, laws, and urban education challenges and opportunities.
Students who complete the certificate and achieve a satisfactory score on the ETS: Praxis 2 Examination qualify for a Certificate of Eligibility from the state of New Jersey.
Students interested in preparing for the Certificate of Eligibility who do not have an eligible master's degree may enroll in the master of public administration (M.P.A.) degree and complete the certificate along with their M.P.A. degree.
The 30-credit certificate consists of 10, 3-credit courses. There are no electives.
