Students
who decide to take an independent study course while in attendance at
the School of Criminal Justice should be aware of the following rules
and procedures:
-
A student
must complete 12 credits of coursework prior to enrollment in
independent study. A master's degree student may accumulate no more than
a total of 6 credits in either independent study or fieldwork toward
the degree.
-
During
the semester prior to enrollment in the course, each student must
obtain the approval of a faculty member who agrees to supervise the
independent study. The student must complete an application (available
in the Office of Academic and Student Services) that describes his or
her coursework for the semester. This form must be signed by the
student, the supervising faculty member, and the M.A. program director.
Once completed, the form should be returned to the Office of Academic
and Student Services. The student is not permitted to enroll in an
independent study course without a completed and approved application
submitted to the Office of Academic and Student Services.
