School of Communication, Information and Library Studies 2008-2010 Master of Library and Information Science Program Admissions Technological Competency

Technological Competency

Before matriculating in the master of library and information science (M.L.I.S.) program, students should be proficient in the use of computers for word processing, electronic mail, and user interfaces such as those found on the World Wide Web. Familiarity with either the Windows or the Apple environment is acceptable, but proficiency with both is valuable for the program's coursework. Students may be admitted without this proficiency, but must address deficiencies before beginning classes.

In order to help fill any gaps found in technological knowledge, computer workshops are offered at no charge by current or recently graduated M.L.I.S. students for admitted students. Complete information about technological competency is distributed each semester to newly admitted students.
