The master of communication and media (M.C.M.)
degree program requires the successful completion of a minimum of 36 credits. This
includes completion of:
- A four-course core (12
credits)
- Eight elective courses (24
credits)*
- Noncredit experiences

The M.C.M. degree typically requires four
semesters of full-time study: 9 credits per semester is the maximum course load.
Study is frequently pursued on a part-time basis. The degree can be accelerated
by taking Winter or Summer Session courses.

orientation; international advisers; and special rules concerning employment and
internships.
All international M.C.M. students are STRONGLY
ENCOURAGED to attend an orientation session as early in or
before their first semester of study.
Curriculum
M.C.M. students must complete 36 credits to earn
a degree. The program is self-paced (3-12 credits per semester). There are
seven specializations available. Once admitted to the M.C.M. program,
students can stay within a specialization or combine specializations to focus
on multiple areas of interest.
All core and elective courses in the
seven specializations are taught online and/or weeknights on campus, 6:20
to 9:00 p.m. Some electives are cross-listed with the SC&I's Ph.D. program
courses as well as the master of information program.
