Students interested in financial support from Rutgers University or external sources are urged to file the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) each year since it is generally required for consideration for both School of Communication and Information and Rutgers financial
assistance.
Any awards for which financial need is a criterion require submission of the federal FAFSA form by March 15.
Information may be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

how to apply for aid, sources of financial aid, and restrictions on
financial aid and employment, visit http://newbrunswick.rutgers.edu/admissions/financial-aid.
The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) offers a limited number of scholarships and fellowships to graduate students each year. The school is continually seeking funding from outside agencies and donors, and awards vary each year. Continuing students are notified early each spring about awards available for the upcoming year, and students are able to submit an application for any scholarship for which they are eligible. For details about SC&I scholarships offered in the most recent year, see http://comminfo.rutgers.edu/current-students/scholarships-and-awards.html.
Some graduate students at the university are supported by fellowships funded by sources outside the university. Students should consult standard reference material for sources of nonuniversity fellowships. Students should also contact clubs, fraternal, religious, and national professional organizations and local interest groups for possible aid through stipends and tuition credits. A student who receives any of these awards is required to notify the Office of Financial Aid.
SC&I and other academic departments at Rutgers hire graduate
students as adjunct faculty members or instructional assistants to teach undergraduate students. SC&I
and administrative offices around the university sometimes also hire students
for staff support functions. Students who are interested should contact the
appropriate departments to check for availability, or check these websites:
