The School of Communication and Information has a
five-year dual-degree program
that allows upper-level undergraduate communication majors to apply to the master of communication and information studies program and begin taking coursework while still completing the undergraduate degree. Details about admission requirements and registration options appears later in this catalog.
Upper-level Rutgers undergraduate students who are not seeking a complete graduate degree may apply to the director of the relevant master's program for permission to register for selected master of library and information science (M.L.I.S.) or master of communication and information studies (M.C.I.S.)
courses. Permission is based on the student's academic record and
professional and academic goals. Undergraduates may transfer credits
for M.L.I.S. or M.C.I.S. courses toward the M.L.I.S. or M.C.I.S. degree
if they are subsequently admitted to either program, provided such
credits were not used for their undergraduate degree. Students wishing
to make such transfers must register for E credits while in the
undergraduate unit.
