M.B.A. Advanced Standing


Qualifying for Advanced Standing/Transfer Credits

The master of business administration (M.B.A) degree normally requires a minimum of 60 credits. In rare cases advanced standing or transfer credits may be awarded to full-time M.B.A. students. All requests for advanced standing by full-time M.B.A. students must be made by the end of the first semester of the program. All requests for transfer credit must be approved prior to beginning graduate work at an outside institution. See below for more information.

Students may receive up to a maximum of 12 credits of graduate coursework completed with a B or better if they received such credit as an M.B.A. degree candidate (and did not complete the degree) at an AACSB accredited institution. For undergraduate business courses, students can earn a maximum of 6 advanced standing credits in the traditional full-time M.B.A. program. Please note: no credit can be awarded for any course taken more than five years before the time of initial enrollment in the Rutgers M.B.A. program.

CPA License

A student who is a CPA may receive 3 credits for the core accounting course. To receive credit, please fax a copy of your CPA license to the RBS Office of Graduate Admissions at 973-353-1592. Include your RBS student ID number at the top of your license.
