Undergraduate Major in Criminal Justice


RUTGERS UNIVERSITY-NEWARK CRIMINAL JUSTICE MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Students must complete 42 credits for the major: 12 credits of required courses, a 3-credit criminal justice (CJ) writing-intensive course, and 27 credits of electives.
If you entered the CJ program prior to fall 2014, please refer to the appropriate catalog or contact the School of Criminal Justice for a complete list of the requirements. Students may also refer to Degree Navigator for a list of program requirements. Note, only grades of C or better will be counted toward the major.

General Education Requirements: The School of Criminal Justice follows the core curriculum requirements used by the Newark College of Arts and Sciences (NCAS) and University College (UC).

REQUIRED COURSES (four courses):
Criminal justice (CJ) majors are required to complete 102 and 103. It is highly recommended that 102 and 103 be completed before taking other CJ courses.
