Rutgers University offers more than 65 study abroad programs in over
30 countries. Students can choose from semester and yearlong programs to
summer and winter programs. Admission is open to students of all majors
entering their sophomore year and above, as well as from other colleges
and universities throughout the United States. Many of the programs
offer students the opportunity for internships, service learning, and
volunteering. While some programs require proficiency in a foreign
language, the majority of the programs do not.
All credits earned while studying abroad through Rutgers are
recognized as Rutgers University credits. However, to ensure that
students meet graduation requirements, participants should carefully
plan their academic programs in consultation with their departmental
advisers and academic deans. While overseas, a program director or
international office together with the Rutgers Study Abroad office will
offer support and academic counseling to students.
For more information, students should contact the Office of Global Initiatives and Experiential Learning at Rutgers University-Newark or visit the Study
Abroad website at http://studyabroad.rutgers.edu to schedule an appointment with a Study Abroad adviser.
