Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS),
headed by a chancellor reporting directly to Rutgers' president, is the health care
education, research, and clinical care division of the university. There are
more than 7,900 students in RBHS schools at locations that include: Rutgers

Brunswick, the College of Nursing offers a bachelor of science(B.S.) in nursing, a registered nurse to
bachelor of science (R.N.-B.S.) program, a master of science (M.S.) degree in
nursing leadership, a doctor of nursing practice (D.N.P.) degree, and a doctor
of philosophy (Ph.D.) program in nursing awarded by the Graduate School-Newark.
Ernest
Mario School of Pharmacy

First organized in 1892 and incorporated into the state
university in 1927, the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy offers a six-year
professional program leading to the doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and a
graduate program offering a post-bachelor of science (B.S.) Pharm.D. degree
(both traditional two-year and nontraditional). Other graduate programs leading
to advanced degrees through the Graduate School-New Brunswick are available. In
addition, the school sponsors a continuing education program for the benefit of
practicing pharmacists throughout the state.

With 300 faculty drawn primarily from
Rutgers' New Jersey Medical School, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and the
School of Dental Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences enrolls
approximately 800 students and offers degrees in the biomedical sciences
including the doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.), the master of science (M.S.), and the
master of biomedical sciences (M.B.S.), as well as a number of dual degrees,
such as the M.D./Ph.D., D.M.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.S.-C.T.S.,
D.P.T./Ph.D., M.S./M.B.A., M.S./M.P.H., and M.B.S./M.P.H. in collaboration with
other schools.

Jersey Medical School
Robert L. Johnson, M.D., Dean
The oldest school of medicine in New
Jersey, the New Jersey Medical School offers the doctor of medicine (M.D.) in
addition to other advanced degrees and continuing education. It encompasses 22 basic science and clinical
departments and hosts centers and institutes, including the Public Health
Research Institute, the Global Tuberculosis Center, and the Neurological
Institute of New Jersey.Students and
patients benefit from the school's extensive clinical practices, including
direct patient care delivered by the physicians of the New Jersey Medical
School Faculty Practice.
Robert
Wood Johnson Medical School

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in
New Brunswick offers the doctor of medicine (M.D.) in addition to other advanced
degrees and continuing education. The school encompasses 20 basic science and
clinical departments and its extensive clinical and community practices offer
direct care to patients and learning opportunities for students. Among its
primary patient care units are the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Group and the
Eric B. Chandler Health Center, a family-oriented community health center.

Offering pre- and postdoctoral dental
education, the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is the only school of
dentistry in New Jersey and is the largest center of dental research in the
state. A sampling of programs offered includes the doctor of dental medicine
(D.M.D.); fellowships in geriatric dentistry, orofacial pain, and oral and
maxillofacial radiology; master of science (M.S.) in dentistry and master of
dental science (M.D.Sc.); doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in oral biology; and
programs from endodontics to pediatric dentistry.

Julie O'Sullivan Maillet, Ph.D., Interim Dean
The school has approximately three dozen programs ranging
from post-high school to postdoctoral at locations in Newark, New Brunswick,
Scotch Plains, and Stratford. Programs
include undergraduate certificates, associate degrees, and bachelor's and
master's programs in fields as diverse as medical imaging, psychosocial
rehabilitation, and physician assistant. Doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees are offered in psychiatric
rehabilitation, biomedical informatics, and health sciences, while professional
and advanced practice degrees include physical therapy, clinical nutrition, and
clinical laboratory services.

Educational offerings include a bachelor
of science in nursing (B.S.N.), an accelerated B.S.N., a master of science in
nursing (M.S.N.) and doctor of nursing practice (D.N.P.); a postmaster's
certificate; a joint doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in urban systems; and
extensive continuing education opportunities. Unique to New Jersey are its M.S.N.'s in anesthesia, midwifery, and
informatics. Classes are offered in

Health

This school offers four degrees: master of public health
(M.P.H.), master of science (M.S.) in biostatistics, doctor of philosophy
(Ph.D.) in public health, and doctor of public health (Dr. P.H.), as well as
dual degrees and postbaccalaureate certificates. Programs are offered in
Newark, New Brunswick, and Stratford through eight departments: biostatistics;
environmental and occupational health; epidemiology; health education and
behavioral science; health systems and policy; dental public health;
quantitative methods in epidemiology and biostatistics; and urban health
administration.
