Applicants for the bachelor of arts or science and master of public administration (B.A./M.P.A. or B.S./M.P.A.) dual-degree program
need to complete their core curriculum requirements, have a cumulative GPA of
3.2 or better, and be entering their junior year. Qualified applicants take the
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and apply to the M.P.A. program during the
first semester of their senior year. Applicants with a cumulative GPA of
3.2 or better are exempt from the GRE.
Applicants complete M.P.A. graduate application requirements, including resume,
M.P.A. application fee, official transcripts from colleges/universities outside
Rutgers, three letters of recommendation, GRE scores if required, and
personal statement explaining "Why You are Pursuing an M.P.A."
The Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) notifies
successful applicants of acceptance before the end of the first semester of their
senior year. Students must earn a grade of B or better in the
graduate courses taken in their senior year to receive credit towards the
M.P.A.
Graduate courses available to eligible undergraduate students include: (Undergraduate

These graduate courses may be taken during the fall and
spring semester of a student's senior year. M.P.A. courses taken as an
undergraduate are charged at the undergraduate tuition rate and are
double-counted for undergraduate and graduate credits if students earn a B or better. If students take graduate courses during the Summer or Winter Session, they will be charged the graduate-level tuition
rate.
After receiving their undergraduate degree, students continue in the M.P.A. program,
taking M.P.A. courses until completion of the required 42 credits for the
M.P.A. degree. Post-B.S./B.A. degree credits carry the graduate
tuition rate.
