Major Requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Biology


The bachelor of science (B.S.) in biology consists of 35 credits in the biological sciences, plus cognate courses in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science. The following requirements define the major in biology. All courses required for the major in biology, including cognate courses, must be completed with a grade of C or better.

7.  Writing Intensive Course: The general education requirements at Rutgers-Newark mandate one writing intensive (WI) course in the department of the major. Any WI biology course can be used to fulfill both the WI requirement and a category requirement for the B.S. biology major at the same time.
