Individual Study in Management I,II (3,3)
The professor and student mutually agree upon the objectives, activities, and timeline of the project. The student provides weekly status reports on the project, and the professor identifies areas in need of assistance and further development. Evaluation includes a project review by any other individual or institution involved, an assessment by the professor, and a self-analysis by the student.

Internship in Arts Management I,II (3,3)
These internships help students develop career skills and work
experience in arts management through placement with private,
nonprofit, and public arts agencies. Details of the student's
responsibilities will be defined by the student and his or her
supervisor at a host institution. The final approval of these
arrangements will be made by an overseeing faculty member.

Introduction to not-for-profit arts management with emphasis on organizational structure, personnel and staffing, U.S. policies, and financial and legal issues.

Second part of the introduction to not-for-profit arts management with emphasis on resource development, marketing, facilities management, accounting, and computer applications.

Arts Fundraising (3)
Provides students with an understanding of the ethics and practices of fundraising for nonprofit arts agencies. Students gain an understanding of the role of the development office in a nonprofit arts agency, prepare for careers in arts management by increasing the skills necessary to function, and learn to plan a multipronged fundraising campaign effectively.

Arts Financial Planning and Administration (3)
From building a budget to filing state and federal annual reports, this class will walk students through the process of nonprofit governance and fiscal management. Students will understand financial policy and controls and explore the career opportunities as general managers or chief financial officers of art-based nonprofit agencies.

Arts Marketing and Public Relations (3)
This course, intended specifically for arts or business majors
interested in arts management, will give an overview of marketing and
public relations that includes "spreading the word" to all segments of
an arts agency's sphere of influence, including the board, funding
sources, staff, volunteers, current and past audiences, and the
decision makers that impact the agency.

Arts Organization Management (3)
Simulates an arts-based nonprofit. Students will actively participate in all functions of the simulated arts agency. From the development of policy to daily operations, students will explore the structure of an agency.

A special topics course built around themes and events that may vary from year to year. It is an opportunity to develop projects around specific events in the Newark cultural realm and to explore issues outside of the standard arts management curriculum.
