International Students
International applicants who require a visa in order to study in the United States must comply with all regular admissions requirements. Applicants are required to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), subscribe to the Credential Assembly Service (CAS), and submit a
completed application along with the $65US application fee. TOEFL (Test
of English as a Foreign Language) is not required.
Applicants who completed post-secondary work outside the U.S. or Canada
must submit their credentials for evaluation through the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) Credential
Assembly Service (CAS). This does not apply to credits earned through a
study abroad, consortium, or exchange program sponsored by a U.S. or
Canadian institution and the work is clearly indicated as such on the
home campus transcript. A Foreign Credential Evaluation will be
completed by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and
Admissions Officers (AACRAO), which will be incorporated into your CAS
report. If you have a special circumstance, please contact the law
school Admissions Office.
Please see the Law Services website for more detailed information.
All admitted international students who plan to attend must present evidence of adequate financial resources for support during their time at Rutgers. After a candidate has been admitted and paid the required seat deposit, appropriate forms and information will be forwarded and must be completed before an I-20 will be issued by the university.
