The business curriculum is the same for all students regardless of the science
concentration. It consists of 19 credits divided over some core courses and some electives. Courses below represent the Rutgers University-New Brunswick course numbers. Business courses are also offered at Rutgers University-Newark and Rutgers University-Camden. Please check the M.B.S. website (mbs.rutgers.edu) for alternatives in Newark and Camden.

sciences and technology and the foundations of leadership. Topics include oral

This course recognizes the critical importance for science and technology graduate students to fully understand strategic marketing concepts (4P's: product, pricing, promotion, placement) in the context of science and technology brands.

Principles
of finance and accounting for scientists and engineers. Topics include: accounting
and financial statements, time value of money, risk and return, capital
budgeting, and financing process for science ventures.

Science and Technology Management Capstone (3)
The capstone course is a
project-based course covering the fundamentals of entrepreneurship,
intrapreneurship, innovation commercialization, and intellectual property.
Students are expected to work on team projects analyzing technology innovations
and creating business plans.
Prerequisites: At least three of the core classes must be completed before the capstone course. Note: 22:799:648 Valuations of New Business Ventures can be used as a substitute for this course.
