The postbaccalaureate doctor of nursing practice (DNP) dual pediatric primary/acute care nurse practitioner (PNP) program is the only dual certification option program in the state preparing doctoral-prepared dually certified pediatric nurse practitioners. Graduates are eligible to sit for national certification as an acute care and/or primary care pediatric nurse practitioner offered through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Applicants must have a minimum of one-year acute care pediatric experience to apply to this program.
Curriculum: The postbaccalaureate DNP dual primary/acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program is comprised of 85 credits with 900 clinical hours devoted to precepted NP clinical practice. The program can be completed in eleven (11) semesters of graduate study and is a hybrid of online and in-classroom courses.

Specialty Courses
In addition to the successful completion of the above course requirements, all DNP students must meet all the DNP project requirements set forth by the program.
A student who does not complete their DNP project during the project-related courses will be registered for a 1-credit project continuation course in subsequent semesters until the project is complete.
The minimum number of combined clinical practicum and DNP project experience hours is 1000. Students, however, may be required to complete more than 1000 hours to meet minimum competency requirements for graduation and certification (when applicable).
