High school seniors who have taken advanced courses may take the College
Board Advanced Placement Examinations administered by the College Board.
Advanced placement and/or degree credit is awarded for scores of 4 or 5.
All
newly admitted first-year students will take Rutgers University's placement
tests. Transfer students entering Rutgers without an equivalent English writing
course or math course will also be required to take placement tests.
Placement test results provide information about course placement.
Students
with a Critical Reading SAT score of 600 or higher or an ACT English score of
30 or higher (by the January 2015 test) are exempt from completing the writing
portion of the testing and will automatically be placed into Expository Writing
or English Composition.
Students
who completed the AP exam in English Lang/Comp, English Lit/Comp, or Calculus
AB or BC with a score of 4 or 5 in their junior year do not have to complete the
placement test in that subject, but must arrange to have the AP scores sent to
Rutgers from the College Board. Go to: https://apscore.collegeboard.org/scores.
