Post-Master's Certificate Program
The Post-Master's Certificate Program at the Rutgers College of Nursing is designed specifically for registered nurses who have a master's degree but did not follow a course of study that led to national certification as a nurse practitioner. Nurse practitioners who would like to achieve certification in another specialty area are also appropriate for this program. The post-master's certificate is offered in the following specializations:
Post-master's certificates consist of eight courses (18 credits), with the exception of the Family Nurse Practitioner which consists of 10 courses (24 credits). In order to be admissible to the program, students must have a master of science (M.S.) degree in nursing and have taken the following courses during their master's program:
- Advanced Pathophysiology
- Pharmacodynamics for Primary Care
- Advanced Health Assessment
Students are admitted to the Post-Master's Certificate Program in the fall semester only. Interested applicants must complete the online application process (see admission requirements), submitting all required credentials and adhering to all deadlines.
For course descriptions for each specialty, refer to the leadership or clinical courses in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs section of the catalog. The offering of specialty courses depends on an adequate cohort of students.
