Focuses on the examination of nursing concepts relevant to vulnerable populations, such as pregnant women, acute and chronically ill individuals, and the underserved. Research Practicum (3)
Emphasizes practical application of knowledge relevant to theory development and research gained in the master's program. The student crystallizes the role of the nurse scientist by preparing a grant application for a predoctoral award at the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) and by exploring other resources available to doctoral education. In this process-oriented course, students construct a grant application under the supervision that focuses on a concept of interest to them, the theoretical perspectives underlying the concept, and gaps in the literature identified by the student's review of the literature. The student proposes a research project and identifies mentors who provide credibility and supervision to carry out the research project. Interdisciplinary collaboration encouraged.
