In addition to the bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) or bachelor of music (B.Mus.) degree programs, a Mason Gross School of the Arts student can pursue a second major in a liberal arts discipline, provided the requirements of both Mason Gross School of the Arts and the other department are fulfilled. Students are not permitted to pursue another B.F.A. or B.Mus. major in another Mason Gross department. The student must declare the second major through the Office of the Dean and fulfill all conditions required by the second department. The second major is recorded on the student's transcript. The second major does not permit Mason Gross School of the Arts students to complete the liberal arts version of a Mason Gross School of the Arts major. The Mason Gross majors are highly structured and credit intensive; students who choose a second major must be aware that additional semesters may be required.
Mason Gross does not participate in dual-degree programs with any other school within Rutgers University. A dual major does not qualify a student to earn a second bachelor's degree.
