01:830:123 Soul Beliefs: Causes and Consequences (4) Exploration of the causes and consequences of various beliefs about the soul. Topics such as the self, mind/body dualism, evolution, culture, death anxiety, afterlife, and religious and political conflict.
01:830:200 Quantitative Methods in Psychology (4) Quantitative methods used in psychological research. Regular exercises required. One semester of college-level mathematics recommended. Prerequisite: 01:640:025 or appropriate performance on the placement test in mathematics.
01:830:201 Principles and Issues in Psychological Science (3) Introduction to the field of human cognition, surveying methods, concepts, findings; and problems in perception, learning, memory, thinking, problem solving, psycholinguistics, and development. Prerequisite: 01:830:101.
01:830:210 Behavioral Data Analysis (1) Quantitative methods used in psychological research. Intended for students who have completed an introductory course in quantitative methods that included basic descriptive and inferential statistics, and correlation and regression, but did not include both single-factor and two-factor analysis of variance.
Special Notation: Students who complete the course with a grade of C or better will be considered to have met the quantitative methods requirement for the major in psychology. Prerequisite: Permission of psychology adviser. May not receive credit for both 01:830:200 and 210.

01:830:493 Internship in Applied and Community Psychology (BA) Supervised full-time involvement in service settings, providing opportunity to apply knowledge in developmental, community, and clinical psychology; may include service delivery, planning, and evaluation research. Prerequisites: At least five courses in psychology and permission of instructor. Corequisite: 01:830:494. Open only to junior and senior psychology majors.
01:830:494 Internship Seminar in Applied and Community Psychology (3) With fellow interns, study dynamics of service organizations and forces influencing how professionals function; group and individual supervision around problems and issues arising from internship experiences. Corequisite: 01:830:493.
01:830:495,496 Research in Psychology (BA,BA) Supervised research. Written agreement with the supervisor required. May include laboratory/library research. Final written report required. Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of application form and permission of instructor. May be taken more than once.
01:830:497,498 Honors Research in Psychology (3,3) Individual research projects to be written as honors thesis. Prerequisite: Permission of department. Open only to seniors with 3.4 or better cumulative grade-point average in courses counting toward the major. Honors Research in Psychology (either 01:830:497 or 498) does not count as a laboratory course and does not fulfill the 400-level writing requirement.
