Beginning after spring 2017, a minor in economics consists
of 01:220:102 (with a grade of C or better) and 103 (with a grade of C or
better), 01:220:212 (or both 01:220:210 and 01:220:211), and three additional
economics (220) courses. Students declaring the minor in spring 2017 or earlier
are not required to take 01:220:212, but must complete four additional
economics courses. Such students may use 01:220:212 (or the combination of
01:220:210 and 211) as an elective for the minor. Only one course with a grade of D can count
toward the minor. Only two economics courses outside the Department of
Economics at Rutgers University-New Brunswick will be accepted toward the
minor. Enrolled students who wish to take an economics course outside
Rutgers-New Brunswick must have prior approval from the undergraduate director.
Students should consult the economics department for further information on
courses offered by the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics
(major in environmental and business economics) at the School of Environmental
and Biological Sciences and by other departments in the School of Arts and
Sciences.
Note: The combination of 01:220:210 and 01:220:211, each of
which is a 1.5-credit course, may be used to count for one of the four
electives in the economics minor for students who have declared an economics
minor in spring 2017 or earlier. Such students who are able to satisfy the
prerequisite for 01:220:211 with an appropriate statistics course do not need
to take 01:220:210 (but are encouraged to do so), but in either case will also
satisfy one of the four electives for the economics minor by completing
01:220:211. 01:220:212 is equivalent to the sequence of 01:220:210 and
01:220:211. Either 212 or the 210-211
sequence is required for students declaring an economics minor after spring
2017.
