Selected topics on diet and nutrition as they relate to health and disease. The biochemical mechanisms and critical analyses of the existing information will be emphasized. Students are encouraged to make class presentations or write semester papers.

Pharmaceutical Microbiology (3)
Study of the basic principles of human disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and helminth parasites. This courses focuses on organisms capable of causing disease as well as the study of the immune system and mechanisms used to defend against pathological microorganisms. Also included are the mechanisms of pharmacological agents such as antibiotics that are used to treat infectious microorganisms.
