Withdrawal and Readmission

Leave of Absence. Students who wish to take a leave of absence should contact the Office of Academic Services. Requests for a leave of absence are generally granted for one academic year beginning with the semester the student disrupts enrollment. Students who do not reenroll within one academic year are not guaranteed the ability to return (see Readmission below).

Withdrawal. A student desiring to withdraw from the school with grades of W must notify the Office of Academic Services. Students who leave school without officially withdrawing receive a grade of F in each incomplete course. Students who leave after the eighth day through the eighth week of a semester will receive grades of W in their courses. After the eighth week through the 12th week, permission of the dean or his designee is required and students must withdrawal from all courses. Withdrawal after the 12th week of the semester is not permitted except in the case of documented extraordinary circumstances and would be for withdrawal from all courses only.

Readmission. Students who interrupt their registration at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy for more than one academic year and wish to return must apply for reenrollment at http://admissions.rutgers.edu/reenrollment. For students whose enrollment is disrupted for more than one academic year, readmission is not guaranteed and is based on the circumstances leading to the student's decision to interrupt his or her registration and available space. Such students will need to compete in the transfer student application pool. Students may be required to produce medical or legal documentation that they are prepared to continue in the program at the academic dean's discretion. Students dismissed academically will only be readmitted to assist in applying for transfer to another unit of Rutgers. Admission to another unit is not guaranteed.
