Offered in cooperation with the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies of the School of Arts and Sciences, this program offers four options:

Applied Kinesiology. All science-oriented students begin the major in applied kinesiology, which provides students with a strong science foundation focusing on human anatomy and physiology. Eligibility requirements for this option are grades of C or better in both General Biology courses (01:199:101-102 and in Basics Statistics for Exercise Science (01:377:275) or its equivalent. The rigor and broad science base of this option makes it appropriate for students who wish to go into medicine or physical therapy.

Exercise Science. Entry into the exercise science option requires a minimum of a 2.85 GPA in a minimum of 12 credits required for the option. It provides the student with a strong science foundation focusing on human anatomy and physiology and requires two additional labs than does the applied kinesiology option. The rigor and broad science base of this option make it appropriate for students who wish to go into medicine or physical therapy.

Exercise Physiology. Entry into the exercise physiology option requires a minimum of a 2.85 GPA in a minimum of 12 credits required for the option. The exercise physiology option provides students with a strong science foundation emphasizing preparation for further specialized graduate study or direct entrance into a variety of fields related to exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sport medicine and direct entrance to upper-level certifications in the rehabilitation and fitness industries.

Sport Management. The sport management option is a rigorous business option designed to meet the growing interest in the management of sport programs and facilities. Graduates may choose to pursue advanced degrees in such professions as administration, marketing, business, law, and facility management.
