12:090:120First-Year Interest Group Seminar (1) Highly interactive seminars on selected topics focusing on career goals of first-year students. Analysis and discussion of presentations by a broad spectrum of faculty and alumni speakers; introduction to and utilization of university resources. Open to first-year students only. May not be repeated for credit.
12:090:131Library Research (1.5) Introduction to the collections and services of the Rutgers University libraries and to the skills necessary to define a research topic and develop an effective research strategy.
12:090:170 to 199Study Improvement Techniques (E1.5)  LSAT, GRE, and GMAT skills; speed reading; and study skills.
12:090:220Students in Transition Seminar (1) Introduction to the university and technology services for transfer students. Topics designed to assist students in the adjustment to the university and to facilitate better first-term academic performance; characterized by small-group learning. Open to entering transfer students only. May not be repeated for credit.
12:090:260Special Topics (1.5) Exploration of problems and issues relating to a particular theme.
12:090:270 to 299College Honors Seminar (3)  Selected topics in the arts and sciences. Titles vary from term to term. By invitation of the college honors chairperson.
12:090:320Peer Instructor Education for First-Year Interest Group Seminar (3) Student peer educators learn how to teach a first-year interest group seminar and help new students make transition to university life. Selected topics focus on effective methods of college teaching and program strategies to increase understanding of the first-year and transfer experience. Discussions center on teaching techniques to integrate faculty, current research topics, academic advising, developmental and adjustment issues, and cooperative/ group-learning experiences. Open to selected upper-class students only. May be repeated only once.
12:090:391,392. Independent Study (BA,BA) Individual work on a topic designed by the student in conference with an instructor who has agreed to direct the project. Open only to Rutgers College students, with permission of the dean of instruction.
12:090:393,394Independent Study and Research (3,3) Individual work on a topic designed by the student in conference with an instructor who has agreed to direct the project. Open only to members of the Rutgers College Honors Program, with permission of the director.
12:090:410,411Honors Interdisciplinary Thesis (3,3) Independent research leading to an interdisciplinary honors thesis. Open only to seniors in the Rutgers College Honors Program.
12:090:497-498Henry Rutgers Honors Project (BA,BA) Independent research and preparation of a written thesis under direction of a faculty member. In lieu of two courses in each term of the senior year. May not be taken in combination with another independent study, research, or internship course. Both terms must be completed to receive degree credit.
