Clinical Practicum (Laboratory in Remedial Reading) (3)
Clinical experience with struggling readers. Each student is assigned a caseload of pupil(s), completes a comprehensive case study, administers appropriate screening and evaluative instruments, and develops strategies for literacy improvement. Includes weekly orientation sessions and discussions of clinical problems.
Prerequisites: 15:299:564 or equivalent, and permission of instructor.

Focus on research methods commonly used in literacy research and how to design and implement literacy inquiry projects. The research is applied to school settings for supervision, and selection and evaluation of reading programs.
