Students applying to the five-year or postbaccalaureate initial teacher certification programs may submit SAT, ACT, Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or Praxis Core scores as part of their application as long as those scores meet the minimum requirement and are not older than five years at the time of application. For information regarding the minimum scores required for each test please visit the
Graduate School of Education (GSE) website.
Programs at the GSE have
varying admissions requirements. Some require GRE scores while others do not.
Please check with the specific program for details.
Doctoral programs (Ph.D.
and Ed.D.) require the GREs. The Ed.M
programs that require GRE scores are counseling psychology; educational statistics and measurement; math education; and science education.
Although some programs may
require GRE scores, supplemental materials (personal statement, letters of
recommendation, and professional experiences) assist in providing a greater
understanding of an individual's readiness, preparation, and commitment for
graduate study.
