Center for Effective School Practices

Executive Director: Claudia D. Burzichelli

Website: http://cesp.rutgers.edu

The Center for Effective School Practices (CESP) supports implementation of up-to-date research-based strategies for grades pre-K-12. Faculty members and graduate students are invited to join CESP to observe, analyze, research, and/or provide professional development, coaching, and technical assistance to improve classroom, school, and district practices. Operating at the intersection of education practice and university-based research, CESP includes the Academy for Teaching and Learning, Regional Training Center for Alternate Route Teachers, Charter School Resource Center, Coalition of Essential Schools-New Jersey, and Public Education Institute. Under the professional development umbrella, CESP are national certified trainers for professional learning communities (critical friends training), project-based learning, developmental reading assessment, and smart board technologies. In addition, CESP serves New Jersey districts with the Center for Literacy Development, a network created to form a partnership with New Jersey schools for the purpose of enhancing and improving literacy for all learners.

CESP is the Rutgers base of the Regional Educational Laboratory Mid-Atlantic, a collaboration with Pennsylvania State University, ICF International, the Metiri Group, and ANALYTICA, Inc.
