Endorsement Program in Bilingual-Bicultural Education (Certification: Teacher of Bilingual-Bicultural Education (K-12))

The Bilingual-Bicultural nondegree endorsement program is designed for individuals who possess a New Jersey instructional certificate in mathematics, science, social studies, or elementary education and who wish to earn the Bilingual-Bicultural endorsement.  Students must be admitted to the Language Education Ed.M. program to become matriculated students. Candidates will be recommended for the Bilingual/Bicultural endorsement upon completion of the 18-credit program and then will have the option of continuing in the Ed.M. program or withdrawing.

05:300:431  Teaching World Language/ESL in Elementary Schools (3) or 05:300:432    Teaching World Language/ESL in Secondary Schools (3)

15:253:520  Principles of Second/Foreign Language Acquisition (3)

15:253:522  Bilingual-Bicultural Education (3)

15:253:523  Language and Culture (3)

16:300:535  Foundations of Language I (3)

Graduate Level Elective in Related Language Education Area (3)

 

Language and Cultural Proficiency Requirements

1. Proficiency in English to be demonstrated through an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and a Writing Proficiency Test (WPT). (To schedule the OPI & WPT contact ACTFL at www.languagetesting.com .)

2. Proficiency in the language to be taught demonstrated through an OPI and a WPT.
