The ESL nondegree endorsement program is designed for individuals who possess a
New Jersey
instructional certificate in a content field or elementary education and who wish to become certified to teach English as a Second Language. Students must be admitted to the Language Education Ed.M. program to become matriculated students. Candidates will be recommended for the ESL endorsement upon completion of the 18-credit program and then will have the option of continuing in the Ed.M. program or withdrawing.

Language and Cultural Proficiency Requirements

2. Evidence of second/foreign language or cultural experience, such as experience living in a second cultural setting; completion of one or more foreign language course(s) (minimum 3 credits); acquisition of second/foreign language (in a nontraditional setting).
