The dual master of social work/master of public policy (M.S.W./M.P.P.) degree program offers students the opportunity to develop advanced policy practice skills with a focus on social justice and social welfare policy. It complements and enhances both the Rutgers School of Social Work's M.S.W. program and the Bloustein School's M.P.P. program by contributing to specialized knowledge and practice skills and supporting expanded career opportunities for students. The program strongly matches the overall mission of Rutgers University in meeting the educational and training needs of New Jersey citizens.
Admission to the dual M.S.W.-M.P.P. degree program is highly selective and requires acceptance by each school. For the M.P.P. program, students will take 36 credits, and 12 will be accepted from the M.S.W. to total the 48 credits needed for the M.P.P. degree. In the M.S.W. program, the student will take 45 credits with 15 accepted from the M.P.P. to total the 60 credits required. Thus, the full dual-degree program requires a total of 81 credits.
