Programs of Study at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) have established a partnership to bring service members and their dependents, retirees, civilian employees, and area residents opportunities to pursue their college education while staying close to home. This initiative provides high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs, supported by University College at Rutgers University-Camden campus.

University College at Rutgers-Camden is the academic unit that is dedicated to supporting nontraditional and veteran students. As a participant of Service Members Opportunity College (SOC), we recognize the educational value of military training and experience. We will use the American Council of Education (ACE) college credit recommendations listed on your military transcript to determine college credit equivalencies at Rutgers-Camden. In most cases, ACE-recommended credits will be used to fulfill some of your free-elective requirements.

At JBMDL, Rutgers offers bachelor's degree completion programs for students with associate degrees or approximately two years college:

Criminal Justice
Liberal Studies


Above majors can be combined with optional minors in:
National Security, Intelligence, and Counter Terrorism Studies

Graduate courses leading to a master's degree:
Master of Arts in Liberal Studies

As well as certificate programs:
National Security/Homeland Security (undergraduate or postbaccalaureate; can be completed in two semesters)

Convenient evening and weekend classes.

Classroom, online, and hybrid (half face-to-face, half online) course available.

Seven-week accelerated format (online classes 14 weeks).
