History and Aims of the College

The original mission of University College-Camden (School 64) since the college was founded in 1934 was to provide programs of study leading to undergraduate degrees that primarily were geared to the needs of adult, part-time students. The mission now has been extended to include full- and part-time students with an associate in arts (A.A.) or associate in science (A.S.) degree, who are now enrolled in degree completion programs at Rutgers University-Camden off-campus sites.

The curricula of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences-Camden are built on a solid foundation in liberal arts and sciences. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences-Camden offers seven major programs leading to the bachelor of arts degree. They are liberal studies, criminal justice,  political science, and psychology, as well as the individualized major.
