The physics department maintains a strong honors program. Senior
majors with a 3.0 average overall and 3.3 in physics and mathematics
are urged to enroll in the departmental honors program. Honors students
must take two honors seminars or independent study sections. Typically, this will involve a year of
studies on a research topic assigned by a faculty member. Successful
completion of the honors requirements entitles the student to graduate
with "Honors in Physics," which is recorded on the student's
transcript. Dr. Sean O'Malley is the departmental honors adviser.
