On admission, first-year students are assigned codes on the basis of a placement test in mathematics. The codes indicate readiness for regular math courses of various levels or the need for developmental courses (50:640:041-042). Stu-dents are required either to place out of the developmental sequence or to complete the sequence as prerequisite for any other course in mathematics, statistics, or computer science.
