Admission Requirements



  • Official transcripts showing a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • An undergraduate major in Spanish is not required. However, sufficient proficiency in Spanish is mandatory.
  • OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) score is Advanced Low
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A writing sample/statement of purpose both in English and Spanish
  • GRE is not required
  • The Praxis II is NOT required as an entry level, but essential to earn the degree.


*Please note: If you did your B.A. in another country, Rutgers requires a "Credential Evaluation and Authentication Report" from an authorized agency such as WES (World Education Services).
