Applications to the program may be made in the fall (due December 1) and in the spring (May 1). The graduate admissions website (http://gradstudy.rutgers.edu) provides information on applications and the admissions process. Applicants to the program must meet the following requirements:

1. Complete a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Submit official transcripts showing all coursework from undergraduate and graduate schools. The minimum GPA for admission is 3.0.
3. Complete an undergraduate course in statistics and another in research methods. This requirement can be fulfilled after admission. Prior coursework in criminal justice is recommended.
4. Submit the results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Results must be received directly from the Educational Testing Service. Results of law school (LSAT) and business school (GMAT) may be substituted for the GRE. The GRE requirement is waived for applicants who received their baccalaureate degree 10 years or more prior to application or who have worked in the field of criminal justice for 10 or more years.
5. Submit three letters of recommendation. Academic recommendations are preferred.
6. Submit a statement of purpose.
7. Submit a brief résumé if one's work experience is relevant to the application.
