Master of Science (M.S.) in Biostatistics (Pharmceutical Biostatistics Track)


The master of science (M.S.) degree in biostatistics (pharmaceutical biostatistics track) is offered by the Department of Quantitative Methods: Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Newark. The aim is to produce thoroughly trained biostatisticians capable of applying the range of statistical analyses that are relevant to research and development in the field of pharmaceuticals. Additionally, students in this degree program will graduate equipped with basic knowledge of the regulatory context within which pharmaceutical research and development occurs, so that they will be prepared to perform statistical planning and consulting more effectively within the real-world constraints faced by the pharmaceutical industry and other organizations involved in drug development. 

M.S. IN BIOSTATISTICS (PHARMACEUTICAL BIOSTATISTICS TRACK)
CURRICULUM SUMMARY (36 credits)

Students seeking the M.S. in biostatistics (pharmaceutical statistics track) degree must complete 36 credits of academic work with an average grade of B or better, as well as complete a capstone project. This coursework is distributed as follows:

  • 9 credits in core areas of public health
  • 21 credits of statistical and epidemiological methodology courses required by the department
  • 6 credits of required courses in background relevant to drug development
  • capstone project
