Courses Taken “Not-for-Credit”

Students who wish to enroll in a graduate course or a 100- through 400-level undergraduate course and perform all the assigned work without receiving credit may do so if they secure the advance approval of the associate dean. When they register, they must indicate "not-for-credit" status by entering the number 3 via RTTRS or by placing the symbol N in the appropriate column on the registration form. They must pay the normal tuition fee for the course and fulfill the same requirements as all other students during the term, including the execution of any written assignments. At the end of the term, however, they may not take the final examination, and a grade of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) is assigned. The course and the letter grade are included on each student`s record, but no credit is given toward a degree.
