Grade Forgiveness Policy

Any student who has not been registered at Rutgers University-Newark for at least eight consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring semesters) may elect for grade forgiveness. This would mean grades of D and F for courses taken at Rutgers University during the previous period of enrollment would be expunged from the calculation of their grade-point average. Any requirements that are being fulfilled with a D grade would no longer be fulfilled (i.e. General Education courses only - all RBS requires C grades or higher to be marked as complete).

These D and F grades will continue to appear on the student's transcript. This grade forgiveness policy will not apply to XF grades, which signify a failing grade given as a result of the student's having been found guilty of an academic integrity violation.
